Use Cases

For Referees & Officials

How Geilio Scoreboard supports match officials with automated rule enforcement, voice announcements, and clear score displays for professional officiating.

For Referees & Officials

Whether you are officiating a local league match or a regional tournament, Geilio Scoreboard gives you the tools to manage scoring with confidence and professionalism.

Automated Rule Enforcement

Keeping track of scoring rules under pressure is one of the hardest parts of officiating. Geilio Scoreboard removes the mental burden by enforcing sport-specific rules automatically:

  • Badminton -- deuce at 20-20, the 30-point cap, serve following the scorer, and doubles position swaps are all handled for you.
  • Table Tennis -- serve rotation every 2 points, the switch to every-point serving at 10-10 deuce, and doubles rotation are tracked automatically.
  • Pickleball -- side-out scoring, the two-server doubles system, and the win-by-2 rule are built in.

You tap the rally winner. Geilio Scoreboard applies the rules. This eliminates the most common sources of officiating errors -- miscounted serves, forgotten rotations, and incorrect deuce handling.

Voice Score Announcements

After every point, Geilio Scoreboard can announce the score out loud through your device's speaker. This serves the same purpose as a referee calling the score, and it is especially useful in several situations:

  • Noisy gyms where players and spectators may not hear a verbal call
  • Solo officiating when you need to keep your eyes on the court while the score is communicated
  • Pickleball where the full three-number score call (serving score, receiving score, server number) is announced in the correct format

You can enable or disable voice announcements at any time during a match.

Clear, Large Score Display

Geilio Scoreboard's iPhone display is designed for easy reading at a glance. The current score, set information, and serving indicator are shown in a clean, high-contrast layout; if you also need to see the exact server position (left/right side), turn on advanced serve indication (Pro) in doubles. This matters when you are seated at a scoring table and need to confirm the game state quickly.

For referees who prefer a larger view, iPad display mode provides an even bigger scoreboard that can be placed courtside or connected to a projector for venue-wide visibility.

iPad Display for Venue Projection

When officiating at a venue with a projector or large screen, you can use an iPad as a dedicated score display. The iPad connects to the scoring iPhone over the local network and mirrors the live score in a large, clear format designed for spectators. This gives your match a professional broadcast feel without any special equipment beyond an iPad and a projector.

Serve and Position Tracking

One of the most common officiating challenges is tracking serve order and player positions, especially in doubles. Geilio Scoreboard displays this information clearly after every point:

  • Who is serving is always visible
  • Which court side the server should be on (left or right) is indicated
  • Doubles rotation is tracked so you can confirm players are in the correct positions

This is particularly valuable during fast-paced matches where keeping mental track of rotations is difficult.

Match History for Record Keeping

Every match scored with Geilio Scoreboard is saved automatically. For officials managing multiple matches in a session, this means you have a record of each completed match -- including final scores and a point-by-point timeline -- without needing to write anything down.
