Scoring on Apple Watch

How to use Geilio Scoreboard on your Apple Watch with tap, swipe, and Digital Crown interaction modes, page navigation, and haptic feedback.

Scoring on Apple Watch

Geilio Scoreboard on Apple Watch lets you keep score right from your wrist -- no need to pull out your phone during a match. In synced mode the Watch is the scoring input: points you add on the Watch sync to the iPhone display in real time (the iPhone doesn't write scores back to the Watch).

Three Interaction Modes

You can choose how you want to update scores on your Watch. Geilio Scoreboard offers three distinct modes to match your preference:

Tap Mode (Free)

Tap mode is the default and is available to all users at no cost.

  • Tap the top half of the screen to increase Player 1's score.
  • Tap the bottom half of the screen to increase Player 2's score.

This is the simplest way to score -- just tap and go. The screen is divided into two large zones, so it is easy to hit the right area even during intense play.

Swipe Mode (Pro)

Swipe mode is available with Geilio Scoreboard Pro.

  • Swipe up to increase one player's score, and swipe down to increase the other player's score. Only vertical gestures count as scoring.
  • Double-tap to undo the last scoring action.

Swipe mode gives you fast, gesture-based scoring directly from the Watch without needing to reach for your iPhone. (Horizontal left and right swipes move between pages -- they don't score.)

Digital Crown Mode (Pro)

Digital Crown mode is available with Geilio Scoreboard Pro.

  • Rotate the Digital Crown to add a point directly to one side of the current layout -- turning it one way scores for one player, turning it the other way scores for the other -- with no need to select a player first.
  • This mode takes advantage of the Apple Watch's physical crown for precise, tactile control.
  • Double-tap to undo the last scoring action.

Digital Crown mode is especially useful if you prefer a physical input over tapping the screen.

The Apple Watch app is organized into pages that you navigate by swiping left or right:

  • Scoring page -- The main screen where you see and update scores.
  • Controls page -- Shortcuts to switch the server, swap players, reset names, quick setup, and more. (Undo isn't here -- you trigger it by double-tapping on the scoring page.)
  • Reset page -- Quickly reset the current match or start a new one.
  • Settings page -- Adjust interaction mode, haptics, and other preferences right on the watch.

Swipe horizontally to move between pages. The scoring page is your home base, and the other pages are just a swipe away when you need them.

Locking and Unlocking Scoring

To prevent accidental score changes -- for example, when you bump your wrist during play -- you can lock the scoring screen:

  • Long press on the scoring screen to lock it. A lock indicator will appear to confirm.
  • Long press again to unlock and resume scoring.

This is handy during breaks or when you are not actively keeping score but still want to keep the app visible.

Haptic Feedback

Geilio Scoreboard uses haptic feedback to confirm your actions on the watch:

  • A subtle tap on your wrist confirms each score update.
  • Different haptic patterns help you distinguish between scoring, undo, and other actions without looking at the screen.

You can adjust or disable haptic feedback from the Settings page on the Watch if you prefer a silent experience.

Connection Status Indicator

A small status indicator on the Watch screen shows whether the Watch is connected to your iPhone:

  • Connected -- Points you add on the Watch sync instantly to the iPhone display (the sync direction is Watch -> iPhone, with the iPhone acting as the display).
  • Disconnected -- You can still score on the Watch independently. Scores will sync the next time the devices reconnect.

This lets you keep scoring with confidence, even if you leave your phone in your bag across the court.
