Voice Score Announcements
Voice Score Announcements
Voice Score Announcements let your iPhone call out the score automatically every time it changes. Instead of stopping to check the screen, you and everyone nearby can hear the current score spoken aloud -- just like having a referee announce the score for you.
This is a Geilio Scoreboard Pro feature, and it's available on iPhone only (the Apple Watch does not support voice announcements).
How to Enable Voice Announcements
- Open Geilio Scoreboard on your iPhone.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Voice.
- Toggle voice announcements on.
Once enabled, the app will speak the score out loud every time it updates during a match.
Customizing the Voice
You can adjust the voice to suit your environment and personal preference:
- Speech rate -- Control how fast or slow the score is read out. A faster rate keeps things moving in quick games, while a slower rate ensures clarity in noisy environments.
- Pitch -- Raise or lower the pitch of the voice to make it stand out or blend in with your surroundings.
- Voice selection -- Pick the voice you like from the ones your system provides (the available male and female voices depend on which voices you've downloaded in iOS).
Experiment with these settings to find the combination that sounds best for your playing environment.
Sport-Specific Announcement Modes
Geilio Scoreboard adjusts how scores are announced based on the sport you are playing:
- Standard mode -- Scores are read in a straightforward format, such as "5 -- 3" or "12 -- 10." This works well for most sports and casual games.
- International mode -- Scores follow the conventions used in international competition. For example, in table tennis or badminton, the server's score is announced first, matching how referees call scores in official matches.
The announcement mode is tied to your sport selection, so it automatically uses the right format for the game you are tracking.
Match Point and Serve Change Announcements
Beyond regular score updates, the voice announcer also calls out key moments in the match:
- Match point -- When a player is one point away from winning, the app announces "match point" so everyone knows the stakes.
- Serve changes -- In sports with alternating service, the app announces when the serve switches to the other player, helping everyone stay aware of the current server.
These extra announcements add useful context without you needing to check the screen.
Language Options
Voice announcements support 6 languages (Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, and German). The announcement language always follows the app's interface language -- to change it, just switch the app language in Settings (there's no separate "announcement language" picker).
In the Voice settings you can choose a specific voice, adjust the speech rate and pitch, and toggle each sport between the default and International announcement styles.
