iPad Display Mode

How to project your Geilio Scoreboard scores to a nearby iPad for spectators, with setup instructions and use cases.

iPad Display Mode

iPad Display Mode turns a nearby iPad into a large, dedicated scoreboard screen. While you control the match from your iPhone (or Apple Watch), the iPad shows the scores in a bold, full-screen layout that spectators can read from across the room.

Before you buy: iPad Cast is a separate in-app purchase (not included in Pro). Turning on casting from the iPhone requires buying it, while putting an iPad into receiving Display Mode is free.

What It Does

Think of the iPad as your scoreboard monitor. It mirrors the current scores, player names, and match status from your iPhone in real time -- but in a large, easy-to-read format optimized for viewing at a distance. You keep full control on your iPhone; the iPad is purely a display.

How to Set It Up

Getting started takes just a few steps:

  1. On your iPhone -- Open Geilio Scoreboard and go to Settings. Enable the projection option to start broadcasting your scores.
  2. On your iPad -- Open Geilio Scoreboard and enable Display Mode from the app's settings. The iPad will begin listening for a nearby iPhone.
  3. Connect -- The two devices will discover each other automatically as long as they are on the same local network. Once connected, the iPad immediately begins showing the live scores.

No complicated pairing codes or manual configuration needed -- the devices find each other on their own.

Auto-Discovery

Geilio Scoreboard uses your local Wi-Fi network to discover nearby devices. As long as your iPhone and iPad are connected to the same network, they will find each other within seconds. There is no need to enter IP addresses or scan QR codes.

If the devices do not connect, check that both are on the same Wi-Fi network and that Geilio Scoreboard is open on both devices.

Full-Screen Score Display

The iPad display is designed for maximum readability:

  • Scores are shown in large, high-contrast text that is easy to read from a distance.
  • Player names and match details are clearly visible.
  • The display updates instantly as you score on your iPhone or Apple Watch.
  • The layout adapts to the iPad's screen size and orientation.

The iPad stays in a clean, distraction-free full-screen mode so the focus is entirely on the scores.

Connection Status

Both your iPhone and iPad show a connection indicator so you always know the link is active:

  • Connected -- Scores update on the iPad in real time.
  • Disconnected -- The iPad shows the last known scores and will resume live updates automatically when the connection is restored.

If the connection drops, just make sure both devices are still on the same network. Geilio Scoreboard will reconnect on its own.

Use Cases

iPad Display Mode works well in a variety of settings:

  • Tournament halls -- Set up iPads at each court so players, officials, and spectators can follow the scores.
  • Training facilities -- Coaches and players can glance at a mounted iPad to see scores without interrupting practice.
  • Spectator viewing -- Place an iPad on a table or stand near the playing area so friends and family can follow along.
  • Club events -- Give your club matches a professional feel with dedicated score displays at each court.
  • Streaming setups -- Point a camera at the iPad display to include live scores in your video stream.

All you need is an iPhone to control the scores and an iPad to show them.
